At American Indian OIC, we believe that employment is the gateway to freedom from poverty and a better quality of life. We understand, though, that not all jobs offer a meaningful experience or pay a livable wage. Because of this, we strongly advocate for our participants to acquire new education or training to give them the opportunity to reach a little higher. Our services provide connection to a wide range of education and training support. For those just starting out, we can help them obtain their high school diploma or prepare them for the GED examination. This step is the foundation for job training and placement. Upon completion, candidates can participate in advanced training programs or work readiness training and job placement. Career assessment and planning is a strong component of all of our activities. We operate with the knowledge that all people have the opportunity to understand the range of career opportunities and discover what is meaningful for them. We also realize that not everyone can start at the top or even the middle so we work hard at training or placing individuals with positions that they can build upon. Even though we support those in their beginning steps, many of the people we serve have long or skilled work histories. We support many who are new to the area, those who have experienced company down-sizing, or those who want a career change. Our participants are people of all ages with a variety of skills and work histories. We are proud to continue to support those who are reaching out to claim their own future. |
