The American Indian OIC is proud of our community and welcomes individuals, groups, and organizations to connect with our agency and the people we serve. We can find a meaningful opportunity for you to get involved. Located in the Phillips area of Minneapolis, we see the need for community support and encourage you to consider a volunteer project, to coordinate a drive, or make a donation to the organization. Any level of support will provide relief to the people who are a part of the American Indian OIC. In the urban area of Minneapolis, most of the American Indian population lives in the Phillips neighborhood in or around the country’s only ethnic low-income housing project called Little Earth. In this environment, people often put traditional education and employment aside because their daily life is surrounded by severe poverty, gang violence, drug and alcohol use, and teen parenthood. Our clients are adults of all ages, parents, and young people in deep poverty. Almost all of them have incomes at 200% of the federal poverty level. Proudly, our people keep stepping forward to claim a better future. Out of hope and our reputation, our participants voluntarily come here to get the skills they need to build a new life for themselves and their families - we welcome your support to help make that happen. Even the smallest contribution can make such a difference. |
