Nursing Assistant/Home Health Aide
MN State Certification upon testing successfully

This five week course is bundled with the First Aid/CPR course for one additional credit – a total of six credits over five weeks. When taken separately, the costs of this program will depend on the vendors/providers we contract with. Costs will vary, but will be higher than those of the program offered as part of the Health Occupations Program and are not covered by most financial aid services. However, check with the Financial Aid office for other possible sources of funding.

Placement and Career Path
Persons in these positions can, with effort and training, advance in a variety of directions, including Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) and Registered Nurse (RN) positions. Home Health Aides are projected to have around 1500 openings per year in the Twin Cities area. An additional 400 openings will be available in the Nursing Aides category. Those who complete the course and testing can work for agencies providing home health care or institutions with Nursing Assistant Registered services. First Aid and CPR are essential to this job field and are presented with the NAR/HHA course to make the new applicant more valuable to the employer.
