Workforce Investment Act - Youth (WIA)
WIA Youth prepares young people for work and higher education. The program presents an overview of career planning and general employability skills. Our program focuses on work readiness skills that include resume development, job searches, interviewing, appropriate workplace behavior and dress, and employer expectations. We also provide support services for transportation, uniforms or job supplies, lunch money for the first month of employment, and training fees for short term job training.
Eligibility and Enrollment
To be eligible for enrollment, participants must:
- Be a Minneapolis resident
- Meet income guidelines
- Participate in orientation and assessment testing. Orientation and testing occurs every Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Candidates must arrive on time.
- Complete a career interest survey.
Enrollment opens quarterly and limited slots are available. Participation for one year is expected.
