About our Career Education

The Takoda Institute of Higher Education is a licensed career school that offers students industry-specific vocational training in occupations with a need for skilled workers. Education programs last from three weeks to six months and career counselors help students find employment in their field of study as they approach their graduation.

No-Cost Career Education

Through generous public and private grants and scholarships, almost all Takoda students attend the school at no-cost.

Takoda’s Information Technology training programs help you gain the skills and credentials needed for in-demand IT support jobs. As a CompTIA-certified training provider, successful students can earn A+, N+, or IT Tech+ credentials. Small class sizes and dedicated instructors ensure a supportive, career-focused learning environment. Training is free, and our career counselors assist with job placement after graduation.

What is an Information Session, and what will I learn?

An Information Session is an introductory meeting designed to help you understand the programs and services offered at American Indian OIC – Takoda Institute. During this session, you will learn about:

• Available training programs
• The enrollment and application process
• Eligibility requirements
• Client expectations and participation guidelines
• Supportive services and other available programs

Eligibility requirements vary by program. In general, our training programs are designed to serve individuals who may include:

• Adults age 50 and older
• Individuals from minority or underrepresented communities
• Individuals living at or below the federal poverty level
• Individuals with disabilities

Specific eligibility criteria will be explained in detail during the Information Session.

No. All training programs at American Indian OIC are provided at no cost to eligible participants.

Yes. We provide job search assistance and employment readiness support, such as résumé development, interview preparation, and job search guidance. However, participation in our programs does not guarantee job placement.

To determine eligibility, we may request one or more of the following valid documents:

• Temporary identification or authorization papers
• Recent pay stubs
• W-2 forms
• 1095-A (Health Insurance Marketplace Statement)
• 1095-B (Health Coverage)
• 1095-C (Employer-Provided Health Insurance Offer and Coverage)
• 1099 forms (Miscellaneous income)
• DD-214 (U.S. Military discharge or draft record)
• Official Tribal documents that include your full name and full Social Security number
• Social Security Benefits Statement
• Official IRS form letters that include your Social Security number

All required documentation will be reviewed and explained during the Information Session.

Our services are open to everyone. While American Indian OIC focuses on serving Native American communities, we welcome individuals from all backgrounds who meet program eligibility requirements.

Eligibility depends on the nature of the offense. In some cases, individuals who have been incarcerated or have a felony conviction may be eligible for training services. While we are not able to provide training services to individuals with sexual offense convictions, we do offer other supportive services for people who have been involved with the justice system. If this applies to you, please call our office and we will be happy to assist you further.
