Through American Indian OIC, Tyler completed his CompTIA training and earned certifications in both IT Fundamentals and Administration+, building a strong foundation that prepared him for hands-on experience in the field. 

Tyler’s time with the teams gave him a broader view of how IT works in a large organization—and a clearer idea of where he wants his career to go next. During the internship, Tyler gained experience in network operations, cybersecurity, systems administration, and help desk. He even spent time at the Target Center alongside the broadcast team during a Lynx game, seeing how live sports events are supported by technology. “The biggest thing I’ve gained is confidence in communication,” Tyler said. “Knowing how to ask for help, collaborate with teams, and take initiative has been a big part of my growth.” 

Tyler had the opportunity to lead two independent projects that gave him hands-on technical and analytical experience. One was a project researching options for a new technology system, and the other involved analyzing data to determine if usage matched team needs. These projects gave Tyler the chance to work directly with staff, use data to support decisions, and better understand how technology supports daily business operations. 

Before starting the internship, Tyler was primarily focused on getting into any technology job, but after working with the Wolves/Lynx, he’s now more interested in the sports industry and the potential for future IT roles in similar organizations. Tyler plans to use everything he’s learned to support the next steps in his career, and there’s no doubt that great opportunities are coming his way.
